Insulin Resistance

•  The inability of the body to respond to the hormone insulin
• Insulin is released from the pancreas when blood glucose levels 
• Insulin initiates a cascade of reactions which promotes cellular glucose uptake in target issues.
• Insulin resistance occurs when the cells response to insulin is disrupted.
